Vintage Shell Lake Wood and Canvas Canoe

Vintage Shell Lake Canoe, wood & canvas construction, made in 1939 by the Shell Lake Boat Co. of Shell Lake WI.  The canoe is 18' long and has a 36" beam.  I bought this canoe in 2008 from the son of the original owner.  The canoe received new canvas, paint, and brass hardware in 2008.  The forest green paint is a very close color match to the original. The canoe is nicely appointed with cane seats and brass stembands.  All ribs are original.  No rot at the rib tips. The inwales, outwales, thwarts, seats, decks, stems and keel are free of rot.  The woodwork shows some bumps, scuffs, scrapes, and scratches that come with ordinary use and, arguably, add character to this 82 year-old gem.  There is a cut in the canvas at the bow end - see photo 12.  Additional photos can be provided upon request.  Free delivery within 75 miles of Indianapolis.
